National Climate Change Action Day

October 24 is National Climate Change Action Day.

Sooooooooo..... get out there in your SUV and burn some fossil fuel to help warm up the planet!

Remember the POSITIVE things about climate change: A huge increase in plant production (forests, crops, your front lawn).  Lower death rate (more people die from cold than heat).  Surfing in Greenland (think of the new jobs created in surf board shops in Greenland!)

Remember on October 24 to DO YOUR PART and increase the  CO2 in the atmosphere! If you don't, you must want children to freeze to death while starving!

Pining for President Bush

How I wish George W. Bush were still President.

I know... I know... a lot of Republicans also disliked the guy for spending like a drunken sailor and such.

But, no president was ever perfect. Reagan even had the GOP P.O.'d at him more often than not, if you recall.

I still love the man, think he was a great president (faults and all), and that he served his country VERY WELL in the two terms he was in office.

God Bless You, President Bush! I miss you!

Obama's Recovery Bubble Will Burst

The infusion of cash into every leftist cause in America is designed to do two things: Reward Obama's base from the taxpayers' purse, and stimulate the economy by creating "new" jobs.

It will do both, temporarily. But Obama's view of a "new" economy will not work in any sustained way. The reason is simple: The leftists causes which have been flooded with money don't produce anything. So when the geyser of taxpayer cash subsides, there will be no sustainable income to support all those artificially created jobs.

To illustrate the problem, let's look at a fictional recipient of Obama's Robin Hood largesse. Our illustrative group must be a quintessential leftist cause, meaning it must purport to address the basic leftist rally-cries of victimhood, social justice, racial division, class warfare, and hatred of Christianity. Just such a cause might be the group we will call the Native American Childrens' Association or NACA. This fictional group's purpose will be to redress the racist oppression of Native American children in the form of limited health care, indoctrination in invader-occupier (nee European) schools and religion, extermination by invader-occupier introduced drugs, alcohol and low self-esteem, and disenfranchisement from a political system dominated by old white men.

Sounds pretty standard for a leftist organization, yes?

As a reward for helping to deliver almost all of its constituency (Native Americans)  to Obama's side in the election and to encourage their continued fealty, NACA is infused with millions of taxpayer dollars with a mandate to hire people and put them to work furthering their leftist agenda. This must be a good thing, right? New jobs. What can be wrong with that?

The problem is that the jobs they create - and they WILL create jobs - will not be sustainable. When the stimulus cash is gone, who will cover their paycheck? These groups don't PRODUCE anything. Because they don't produce anything, there will be no RETURN on the investment of wages.

These type of groups, in their native habitat, have a limited income source. They have enough money to pay a few administrators and perform a few functions that nominally address the needs of the group they serve. Their funding is most likely from individual donations and volunteerism, trusts, foundations, churches and the like. Many fish in the pond of philanthropic funding keep these organizations lean and hungry. The competition for funding is very stiff indeed.

After the flush of "free" taxpayer cash is gone, the reservoir of philanthropic cash is all that's left.

When a for-profit company hires someone, that person generally produces something. He or she contributes his skill or labor, which in turn contributes to an INCOME to the company. A laborer hired to make widgets is supported by the SALE of those widgets, and it becomes a self-sustaining cycle of produce and sell.

However, when a non-profit victocracy hires a new person, that person usually does not produce a thing. His continued employment is completely reliant upon the largesse of the benefactor(s) which made his hire possible in the first place.

Yes, Obama's infusion of cash into every left-wing cause in America will produce a large number of "new" jobs. But the design flaw in this economy is that the built-in bubble must burst. It is not sustainable. Not in the long term, and not even in the short term. Transient indicators of better employment will be followed by "surprise" increases in unemployment claims as the rush of money runs out and these people lose their recently gained jobs.

Adding insult to injury, these individuals will have had their hopes raised and they likely will have started spending and accruing debt without foreknowledge of the temporary nature of their job. There is a good chance they will wind up in worse shape than when they got the job.

Just another example of how the Democrats' "cure" always makes things worse, not better.
